William Henry Orlaskey Jr., a beloved resident of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away on October 27, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on December 25, 1946, in Queens, NY, William lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family.
He was the cherished husband of Christine and a devoted father to Lauren Eichler (Chet), Daniel, and Peter. William took immense pride in being a grandfather to C.J. and Erik Eichler and Parker Orlaskey, whose smiles brought him endless joy.
William graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in 1969, embarking on a lifelong journey of service and leadership. He proudly served over 25 years in the Naval Reserve, where he exemplified commitment and integrity. His contributions to the maritime community were matched only by his devotion to the principles of brotherhood and charity as a loyal member of the Smithtown Masonic Lodge No. 1127. He held the esteemed title of Master Mason, having been Raised on April 26, 2000, reflecting his dedication to the values of friendship, morality, and brotherly love.
He was also an avid New York Jets fan, bringing his enthusiasm for the team into every game day. Outside of work and sports, William found peace in nature. He loved reading and spent countless hours in his yard, where he nurtured his beloved trees and tended to his raspberry bushes. His passion for gardening culminated in the delightful raspberry wine he crafted from his harvests.
William's warmth and generosity touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Chapel at St. Charles, 200 Belle Terre Road, Port Jefferson, NY 11777, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY 11933.
In this time of sorrow, we celebrate William's life and the enduring love he shared with his family and friends.
